Our Water contractor client is seeking a Senior Project Planner to join a leading infrastructure delivery team supporting Thames Water projects across the Thames Valley region on a permanent basis.
The successful candidate will work closely with on‑site project teams, ensuring high‑quality planning, schedule control, and programme reporting. You must be personable, confident engaging with stakeholders, and comfortable gathering information directly from site and project teams.
Essentials
- CANDIDATE MUST BE COMMUTABLE TO GLOUCESTERSHIRE OR OXFORDSHIRE OR WILLING TO RELOCATE TO THE AREA.
- Candidate must have Water sector experience
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6.
- Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and site teams to capture accurate information and progress updates.
- Assist in preparing project plans, work breakdown structures (WBS) and baseline programmes.
- Monitor project progress, assess delays, and support mitigation strategies.
- Produce regular project reporting, dashboards and KPIs for internal and client review.
- Support the Senior Planner and Planning Manager with programme governance and best practice planning.
- Attend site meetings across the Thames Valley region to gather data and validate progress.
- Ensure planning activities comply with internal processes, client standards and industry best practice.
- Mentor/support more junior Planners in their duties
- Deputise for Planning Manager when required
Skills/qualifications/experience
- Proven experience as a Senior Planner within the Water industry with tier 1 contractors, ideally on civil orientated projects.
- Primavera P6 - essential.
- MS Project experience - beneficial.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with site teams and key stakeholders.
- Comfortable gathering information directly from operational teams and validating site progress.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Must be commutable to the Thames Valley region for site visits.
