Our client is currently seeking a Senior Highway Engineer (Asset Management) to join their team in Bournemouth.

This role is integral to the maintenance and development of highway assets, ensuring they meet technical and safety standards while supporting the delivery of key projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking work across the carriageways, footways, cycleways and drainage assets as part of the planned maintenance programme
  • Designing and supporting the development of highway maintenance schemes from concept to construction
  • Producing and reviewing design drawings, specifications, and tender information
  • Developing the planned programme based on asset management prioritisation
  • Ensuring project delivery is within budget, on schedule, and compliant with technical standards and legal obligations
  • Conducting visual inspections on site and assessing site information
  • Managing contracts and team performance to deliver services
  • Collaborating with multiple teams and stakeholders
  • Driving innovation in highway maintenance and asset management

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in maintenance and highway engineering
  • Strong understanding of asset management and prioritisation
  • Proficiency in producing and reviewing technical documents
  • Capability to manage projects and ensure compliance with standards
  • Knowledge of conducting site inspections and desktop studies
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to manage risks, budgets, and ensure governance throughout project lifecycle
  • Innovative mindset to contribute to the development of asset management policies and strategies
