Our client, a leading company in the Power Utilities and Renewables sector, is currently seeking O&M HV Engineers to join their team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a reputable organisation that specialises in the operation and maintenance of high voltage (HV) systems and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine, scheduled, reactive and preventative inspection and maintenance of HV/LV equipment (up to 132kV).
- Plan, execute, and oversee HV switching schedules to ensure safety from the system in compliance with company safety rules.
- Manage fault location, diagnostics, repair, and response activities.
- Produce remedial works quotations, compile Work Packages, Job Instructions, and RAMS.
- Coordinate the work of technicians, supervise and mentor junior staff, and conduct competency assessments/audits.
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders and other interested parties to ensure project objectives and deliverables are met.
- Plan and execute HV Switching, isolation, and earthing up to 132kV.
- Issue safety documentation in accordance with company/customer safety rules and operational procedures.
- Test installations and systems, analyse test data, and compile test reports.
- Ensure that projects meet safety requirements/regulations and company QMS standards.
Job Requirements:
- HNC in Electrical Engineering ideally in Power Distribution or equivalent qualifications in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Additional certifications such as HV Senior Authorised Person (HVSAP), HV Switching Operations, or HV Safety Rules.
- Current or recent Senior Authorised Person (SAP) authorisation with experience in HV systems (up to 33kV, ideally up to 132kV).
- Technical expertise in HV systems, equipment, and protective devices.
- Experience with electrical testing (e.g., IR, continuity, pressure, VLF, Ductor) and fault detection techniques.
- Knowledge of electrical safety regulations, standards, and best practices, focusing on HV switching operations.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
- GWO Certifications, Emergency First Aid, and CSCS/ECS are advantageous but not essential.
