Our client, a leading provider in the highways sector, is currently seeking a Cyclical Maintenance Manager for a contract position to lead a team responsible for all routine and cyclical highway maintenance activities across the county.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading a team in the planning, management, and implementation of cyclical maintenance programmes
  • Extending the life of highway infrastructure through preventive fault measures
  • Maintaining highway safety standards and achieving value for public money
  • Overseeing programmes such as carriageway and footway surface dressing, white lining renewals, verge and tree maintenance, gully cleansing, and drain jetting
  • Balancing local aspirations, County Council priorities, and policy positions in planning works
  • Providing strategic guidance and ensuring alignment with the County's CARE values
  • Monitoring team performance against KPIs and ensuring targets are met
  • Collaborating with other managers in the highway maintenance service area to ensure consistent strategies are adopted
  • Managing a large maintenance budget, both revenue and capital, and ensuring financial prudence

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in highway maintenance and cyclical maintenance management
  • Strong knowledge of planning and implementing cyclical maintenance programmes
  • Understanding of budget management and financial mitigation for over-spend
  • Excellent leadership and team development skills
  • Ability to provide strategic guidance and ensure alignment with policy positions
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with elected members, County Councillors, District and Parish Councils, and the general public
  • Proficiency in monitoring performance and achieving KPIs
  • Commitment to delivering high standards of customer service
