Mobile Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Engineer to manage a variety of electrical and mechanical maintenance services. This mobile position focuses on delivering high-quality planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs to ensure client facilities remain safe and operational. You will be primarily based in the Midlands, with occasional travel to other regional sites as required.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Technical Operations
- Preventative Maintenance: Execute scheduled inspections and tasks ranging from daily to biannual cycles, ensuring all work aligns with SFG20 industry standards.
- Electrical Compliance: Perform installations and upgrades in accordance with current wiring regulations and issue the necessary certifications.
- System Monitoring: Maintain and troubleshoot diverse building systems, including HVAC, fire alarms, emergency lighting, and high-voltage/low-voltage switchgear.
- Documentation: Accurately log all completed works through digital reporting systems and ensure statutory safety records are readily accessible.
Safety & Quality Control
- Site Inspections: Carry out regular safety audits and report on the environmental, health, and safety performance of the project to the management team.
- Risk Management: Develop and adhere to Method Statements and Risk Assessments (RAMS) for all site activities.
- Subcontractor Management: Supervise external vendors to ensure they comply with site safety permits and quality protocols.
Service Delivery
- Client Relations: Act as a technical point of contact for site staff, providing professional customer service and clear communication.
- Emergency Response: Participate in an on-call rotation to address out-of-hours technical emergencies.
- Procurement: Identify necessary replacement parts and source quotes to support ongoing maintenance plans.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Certification: City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent) and 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Licensing: A valid UK driving licence is mandatory for this mobile role.
- Technical Background: Solid experience in commercial electrical maintenance, specifically with fault-finding and diagnosis.
- Education: A relevant technical degree or a recognised third-level engineering qualification.
Skills & Experience
- Industry Standards: Deep understanding of SFG20 maintenance regimes and health and safety legislation.
- Building Systems: Familiarity with BMS controls, HVAC units, UPS systems, and standby power solutions.
- Autonomy: Proven ability to manage your own schedule and work effectively without constant supervision.
Preferred Attributes
- Testing: Possession of 2391/2394/2395 Testing and Inspection certificates.
- Site Cards: Valid IPAF, PASMA, or ECS cards.
- Mechanical Knowledge: Understanding of broader building services, such as plumbing and ventilation.
