Our client, a leading provider of engineering solutions within the nuclear industry, is currently seeking a Planning Engineer to join their team in Kent on a contract basis. This role is integral to supporting a major UK nuclear programme focused on the defueling and decommissioning of an Advanced Gas-cooled Reactor (AGR) power station - a first-of-a-kind project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and managing cost- and resource-loaded schedules using Primavera P6
  • Collaborating with Project Managers and the Project Controls team to ensure accurate planning
  • Incorporating risk, change, and Earned Value into project schedules
  • Providing detailed schedule analysis and forecasting
  • Monitoring project progress and identifying potential delays or issues
  • Maintaining up-to-date project documentation and reports
  • Communicating project status and updates to stakeholders
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards

Job Requirements:

  • Strong experience with Primavera P6
  • Experience with cost- and resource-loaded planning
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) or Earned Value Analysis (EVA)
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • Experience in a highly regulated environment (e.g., nuclear, energy, infrastructure) is desirable
  • Outstanding attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
