Our client, a leader in the T & D sector, is currently seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Manager to join their team on a contract basis. This role is critical in maintaining and elevating health, safety, and welfare standards across various electrical construction projects, including LV/HV works within commercial, industrial, and infrastructure environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company's H&S management system aligned with ISO 45001
  • Promote a proactive safety culture across all construction activities
  • Oversee works in line with HSG47 as the company's on-site lead
  • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations 2015, Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, HSG85, and HSG47
  • Review and approve RAMS, safe systems of work, switching procedures, and permit to work systems for LV & HV installations
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and behavioural safety observations
  • Lead accident, incident, and near miss investigations, producing root cause analyses and corrective actions
  • Identify training needs, deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings, and ensure competence of all involved personnel
  • Assess and monitor subcontractor H&S competence and performance
  • Produce monthly H&S performance reports and lead continuous improvement initiatives

Job Requirements:

Essential Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH Certificate (minimum)
  • CSCS (Manager/Professionally Qualified Person - Black or White)
  • SMSTS or SSSTS
  • Member of IOSH

Experience:

  • Experience in H&S management within electrical construction
  • Proven experience in commercial or industrial electrical projects, including multi-site operations
  • Strong knowledge of UK H&S and electrical safety legislation

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Understanding of LV/HV electrical systems
  • Excellent risk assessment and method statement review capabilities
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Confident working with senior management and site teams
  • Ability to challenge unsafe behaviours professionally and effectively
