Our client, a leading player in the fintech industry, is looking for a Data Migration Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. The role involves working within a critical payments programme, migrating payments processing capabilities from a legacy, third-party-operated environment into a new target environment within the client organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute ETL pipelines and end-to-end data migration runs
- Troubleshoot and resolve data defects discovered during migration
- Support migration dress rehearsals and production go-live activities
- Ensure continuity of critical payments processing throughout migration
- Validate, reconcile, and assure migrated datasets
Job Requirements:
Hands-On Experience:
- Proven delivery of data migration initiatives in banking environments
- Experience specifically within payments platforms or similarly critical transaction systems
IBM DB2 on Mainframe (Strong Expertise Required):
- Indexing, clustering, partitioning, and archiving strategies
- Query optimisation in high-volume, high-throughput environments
Large-Scale Systems Experience:
- Experience working with large, high-throughput systems
- Ability to perform data extraction without impacting live or BAU processing
Demonstrated Technical Capability:
- Data mapping and end-to-end data lineage
- Extraction strategies for complex, congested, or high-risk tables
- Reconciliation and validation of migrated datasets
- Operating ETL processes in tightly controlled production environments
Safe Extraction & Production Risk Management:
- Designing extraction approaches that do not disrupt BAU payments processing
- Controlled handling of production risk and sensitive transactional data
