Our client is seeking a dedicated Highways Inspector to join their team and contribute to the maintenance and safety of the highway network. This role is pivotal for gathering network intelligence through statutory safety inspections and ensuring timely interventions in line with the Assess and Decide policy within the highways business sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting statutory safety inspections and asset condition inspections
- Utilising local knowledge to assist Local Network Teams in collating intelligence
- Supporting Cat 2 works, Cat 3 proposals, and contributing to the Annual Planned Works Programme
- Ensuring compliance with the Assess and Decide policy
- Assessing and categorising defects for appropriate interventions
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of GCC's Inspection Manual
- Contributing to the service planning process
- Ensuring operational delivery adheres to safety, quality, and environmental standards
Job Requirements:
- ONC/City & Guilds 6033 Scheme - Highway Safety Inspection Award or similar accreditation
- NRSWA accredited (Supervisor)
- Comprehensive understanding of the HCC Assess and Decide Policy
- Experience and proficiency in identifying and risk assessing highway defects
- Familiarity with the Well Maintained Highways Code of Practice for Highways Maintenance Management
- Understanding of operational delivery within the TMC/Civil Engineering sector
- Knowledge of construction methodologies and compliance with H&S and TMA regulations
- Preferably, knowledge and personal interest in defined Gloucestershire Districts
