Our client, a leader in the water industry, is seeking a skilled Design Manager to join their team in Manchester on a contract basis. This exciting opportunity will see you working on key projects such as Sewage Treatment Works (STW), Clean Main Renewals, and Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs), with a minimum of three days required in the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, direct and develop engineers, CAD technicians and graduates
  • Grow the design team and maintain a positive ethos and attitude within the team
  • Lead the design process on multidisciplinary water industry projects
  • Challenge, improve and shape formal processes and procedures for the design team and ensure work is undertaken using them
  • Identify and implement appropriate software packages, driving the use of BIM and 3D modelling where necessary
  • Ensure the team produces design deliverables that satisfy safety and quality requirements and are fully integrated
  • Ensure the team produces design deliverables within agreed timescales and hours
  • Ensure the team uses appropriate standards, best practice, and software tools
  • Fully record project changes for design packages
  • Assist with estimating hours required for design packages

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in the engineering design industry in a regulated sector
  • Graduate or HND qualification
  • Good level of IT proficiency
  • Experience in the regulated water industry
  • Track record managing multidisciplinary design teams and projects
  • Experience building teams and developing junior staff
  • Driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Chartered engineer or working towards chartership
