Our client, a leader in the water industry, is seeking a skilled Design Manager to join their team in Manchester on a contract basis. This exciting opportunity will see you working on key projects such as Sewage Treatment Works (STW), Clean Main Renewals, and Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs), with a minimum of three days required in the office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, direct and develop engineers, CAD technicians and graduates
- Grow the design team and maintain a positive ethos and attitude within the team
- Lead the design process on multidisciplinary water industry projects
- Challenge, improve and shape formal processes and procedures for the design team and ensure work is undertaken using them
- Identify and implement appropriate software packages, driving the use of BIM and 3D modelling where necessary
- Ensure the team produces design deliverables that satisfy safety and quality requirements and are fully integrated
- Ensure the team produces design deliverables within agreed timescales and hours
- Ensure the team uses appropriate standards, best practice, and software tools
- Fully record project changes for design packages
- Assist with estimating hours required for design packages
Job Requirements:
- Experience in the engineering design industry in a regulated sector
- Graduate or HND qualification
- Good level of IT proficiency
- Experience in the regulated water industry
- Track record managing multidisciplinary design teams and projects
- Experience building teams and developing junior staff
- Driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Chartered engineer or working towards chartership
