We are looking for a skilled Tool Pre‑Setter / Tool Room Technician to support our CNC machining operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately measuring, presetting, assembling, and inspecting cutting tools using a Zoller Tool Pre‑Setter, ensuring tooling is supplied ready for use to CNC milling and turning machines.
This role would suit someone with a strong background in mechanical assembly, precision components, and tooling.
Key Responsibilities
- Measure and preset cutting tools using Zoller pre‑setting equipment
- Accurately set tool lengths, diameters, and offsets
- Assemble and build tooling and toolholders to specification
- Inspect tools and assembled tool units for wear, damage, or defects
- Prepare and issue tooling for CNC milling and turning machines
- Upload and manage tool offset data for CNC controls
- Maintain tool identification, labelling, and basic tool records
- Support CNC setters and operators with ready‑to‑run tooling
- Maintain cleanliness and basic care of the tool pre‑setting equipment
- Work to all health & safety and quality procedures
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Experience in a CNC machining or tooling environment
- Background in mechanical assembly or precision mechanical build
- Good understanding of cutting tools, toolholders, and offsets
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- High attention to detail and accuracy
Desirable:
- Previous experience using Zoller tool pre‑setters
- Experience with both milling and turning tooling
- Familiarity with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, Mazak, or Haas
- Tool management system experience
This position is initially for 3-6 months with a strong likelihood of extension.
Hours: 38.75 hours per week
8am - 4.15pm (Monday to Friday)
Pay:
£14.00 - £14.50 per hour (Depending on experience)
