We are recruiting an experienced Highways Clerk of Works to support the delivery of a major Highways Capital Programme. This is a hands‑on, site‑based role focused exclusively on highways works.
Key Responsibilities
The role will involve site supervision and inspection across a range of highways schemes, including:
- Major cycle infrastructure projects
- Carriageway and footway resurfacing
- Traffic management and temporary traffic arrangements
- Ensuring compliance with highways legislation, standards, and specifications
- Supervision and quality control of highway construction works
- Monitoring contractor performance and ensuring works are delivered safely and to programme
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience working within a highways environment
- Background in civil engineering / highways engineering or a related discipline
- Strong site supervision or Clerk of Works experience on highways projects
- Good working knowledge of highways regulations and traffic management requirements
- Confident liaising with contractors and project teams on site
Location & Working Pattern
- The role is predominantly site‑based, requiring regular travel to active construction sites for most of the working week
- Candidates must be comfortable undertaking frequent site inspections
- Due to occasional emergency works, candidates living reasonably close to the project area would be advantageous
