Continued project wins and strategic collaborations are driving further expansion, particularly within their Geotechnics & Tunnelling division.
The Team
The UK & Ireland Geotechnics & Tunnelling department currently comprises 12 full‑time specialists. The team is dynamic, collaborative, and passionate about technical excellence. While each member brings expertise in either geotechnics or tunnelling, project work is varied and offers opportunities to develop across both areas. The organisation also provides structured professional development support, including access to ICE mentors for those pursuing chartership.
The Role
We are seeking a Senior Engineering Geologist or Principal Engineering Geologist to join this growing team. This is a full‑time, permanent position offering exposure to high‑profile projects across the UK, Ireland, and internationally.
The successful candidate will play a key role in technical delivery, project support, and mentoring junior colleagues. You will also contribute to project planning, budget oversight, and programme management alongside Project Managers.

Essential Requirements
- Right to work in the UK
- Chartered status with a relevant professional body (or actively working towards)
- Strong academic background in geology or engineering geology (MSc/MEng or equivalent preferred)
- Proven experience delivering technical project tasks
- Excellent report writing and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Experience in geotechnical design for civil infrastructure (embankments, cuttings, shallow/deep foundations)
- Experience specifying and managing ground investigations, developing ground models, and characterising soil/rock parameters
- Proficiency with geological/geotechnical software such as OpenGround and QGIS/ArcGIS
- Strong understanding of CDM Regulations (2015)
- Willingness to mentor junior staff
- Willingness to travel occasionally for project needs
Desirable Requirements
- Experience on major linear infrastructure projects (highways, rail)
- Experience on water infrastructure projects
- Experience managing or assisting with budgets and programmes
- Experience liaising directly with clients and contractors
- Experience with construction site support or supervision (preferably in the UK)
- Familiarity with Leapfrog, Rocscience, or similar software
- Hydrogeological and/or geotechnical design experience
