Contracts Manager

Location: Glasgow (with occasional travel)
Reporting to: UK Contracts Director

The Opportunity

An established organisation is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to lead the delivery of ground investigation projects from a busy regional office in Glasgow.

This is a senior leadership role offering full responsibility for operational performance, project delivery, and team development. You'll play a key part in fostering a positive, high-performing culture, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards.

This opportunity would suit someone who thrives on balancing people leadership, commercial oversight, and hands-on project involvement, and who is committed to achieving high-quality outcomes for both clients and teams.

The Role

You will lead and develop a multidisciplinary team, creating an environment built on clear communication, accountability, and shared objectives. This includes setting direction, managing performance, and providing ongoing coaching and mentoring to Project Managers and engineering staff, as well as supporting recruitment and professional development.

Alongside team leadership, you will oversee the successful delivery of multiple ground investigation projects. You'll coordinate resources, ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, and maintain a strong focus on quality and technical excellence. You will also take an active role in problem-solving, planning, and reviewing outputs to ensure compliance with industry standards.

Developing and maintaining strong working relationships will be central to the role. You'll collaborate closely with clients, internal teams, and technical specialists to ensure clear communication and a joined-up approach to project delivery.

You will also promote a strong health, safety, environmental, and quality culture across all activities. This includes ensuring adherence to policies, conducting audits, reviewing plans, and driving continuous improvement.

From a commercial and operational standpoint, you will manage contract performance, including cost control, forecasting, and profitability. You'll also support the efficient day-to-day running of the regional office and ensure resources are deployed effectively.

In addition, you will contribute to business growth by supporting business development initiatives, identifying new opportunities, and building strong professional networks, while also helping to drive improvements in performance, efficiency, and service delivery.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a candidate with proven experience in a similar role within ground investigation or a related sector. You'll bring strong leadership skills and a collaborative, solutions-focused mindset, with the confidence to build lasting relationships, manage competing priorities, and make commercially sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years' relevant experience
  • BSc (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
  • SMSTS certification

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to step into a visible leadership role within a growing and dynamic organisation, where you can influence outcomes, shape team performance, and make a meaningful impact on both projects and people. You'll be part of a collaborative environment where your expertise is recognised and where you can continue to develop your career.
