Our client, a leader in the water sector, is currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team. This permanent role involves working on a significant strategic infrastructure upgrade programme for Northumbrian Water, part of the AMP8 investment cycle. The successful applicant will manage all assigned commercial activities within the project environment, minimising costs and enhancing value for money.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently manage and issue accurate, timely, and compliant notices and correspondence
  • Identify contractual and commercial risks and opportunities
  • Prepare and agree on applications for payment or assess and prepare payment certificates
  • Maintain registers of variations, delays, extension times, and claims
  • Implement the company's commercial policies and procedures
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly progress valuations and claims
  • Interface with the customer's commercial and project teams
  • Produce pre-contract tender negotiations and reports when necessary
  • Generate monthly cost reports, forecasts, and Contract Leader Reports
  • Advise on risk management and value management
  • Prepare supply chain enquiries and manage supply chain contracts
  • Plan and implement change management and cost control
  • Liaise with site team, supply chain, and customer's representatives
  • Advise the project/site team on contractual matters
  • Ensure awareness of current construction contracts
  • Understand implications of health, safety, and environmental regulations

Job Requirements:

  • Significant commercial experience in the construction industry
  • Financial and commercial acumen
  • Practical approach and logical thought process
  • Experience in office management systems, document control, and distribution
  • Experience in minute taking at contractual meetings
  • Effective drafting of contractual correspondence
  • Strong negotiating and team-working skills
  • Analytical skills
  • Knowledge of legal, contractual, and construction matters
  • Confidence and influencing ability
  • Experience in the water sector
  • RICS/CICES accredited degree
