Our client, a prominent company in the water industry, is currently seeking a Planner to join their team on a permanent basis. This role involves providing construction planning, programming, prelims and methodology input for projects at various stages, from prequalification and tender to contract execution. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing accurate assessments of sequence, methodology, and time for construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing planning and programming input into prequalification and bids, including developing the construction methodology
  • Preparing tender programmes, method statements, phasing drawings and other supporting information
  • Liaising with bid managers, estimators, designers, temporary works department, and specialist subcontractors
  • Preparing and presenting construction proposals using software such as PowerPoint, Sketch-Up, or Paint
  • Supporting site teams in preparing detailed construction, design, and procurement programmes
  • Reviewing progress, updating programmes, and reporting as necessary
  • Supervising a technician or operational staff when required
  • Supporting Business Continuity Planning by ensuring awareness and communication of the plans

Job Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of building, civil engineering or general construction techniques and methodology
  • Appropriate level of safety training and a CSCS card
  • Ability to quickly absorb and assimilate project information and present clear solutions
  • Capability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of design and procurement processes and awareness of contractual matters
  • Experience with NEC compliant programmes and lean programming skills
  • Ability to track and reschedule monthly reports
  • Experience with project management software such as Power-project, Microsoft Project, Asta
  • Membership of a professional body such as CIOB or ICE is encouraged
  • Early Contract Involvement experience
  • Innovative thinking and lateral problem-solving abilities
