Technical Sales Engineer - New Business (Industrial / Wastewater)
Location: Remote covering the East, North and North East (up to Newcastle)
Salary: £38,000-£48,000 (up to £50,000 max) + 10% annual bonus

About the Role
This is not a typical Technical Sales Engineer position. We are specifically seeking a true salesperson - someone who is naturally commercial, motivated by winning work, and driven to grow new business.
The organisation already boasts strong technical expertise. What they now need is a commercially minded, proactive salesperson who can take full ownership of the sales cycle, freeing the technical team to focus on engineering delivery rather than sales support.
This is a hunter- led B2B sales role focused on identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities across the industrial sector for wastewater treatment equipment and services.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Generation

  • Proactively identify and target new business opportunities across key markets, including Manufacturing, Food and Beverage, Paper and Pulp, Breweries, and Distilleries.
  • Build and maintain a high-quality pipeline through outbound prospecting, networking, site visits, referrals, industry events, and inbound leads.
  • Take full ownership of the end-to-end sales process: prospecting, scoping, solution design, proposals, negotiation, and contract award.

Proposal & Bid Management

  • Prepare and present compelling technical and commercial proposals.
  • Lead bid and tender submissions, coordinating internal technical teams while maintaining commercial control.
  • Confidently articulate value propositions to operational, engineering, environmental, and procurement stakeholders.

Account & Territory Development

  • Mix of new business, existing accounts, and re-engagement of dormant clients.
  • Significant focus on the Food & Beverage segment.
  • Provide crucial local coverage in the East, North/North East, where existing teams based in the South East and Wales have limited capacity.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build long-term customer relationships, ensuring satisfaction and repeat opportunities.
  • Conduct site assessments to understand customer challenges, compliance drivers, and commercial priorities.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, and pipeline visibility.

Candidate Profile
Key Requirements

  • Strong customer-facing experience with proven success in sales or business development.
  • Demonstrable ability to produce persuasive proposals/bids and convert them into contract wins.
  • Naturally motivated by targets, competition, and commercial results.
  • Resilient and confident, comfortable operating in an active, competitive sales environment.
  • Capable of managing multiple leads and opportunities without losing momentum.
  • Technical understanding helpful, but full internal technical support is available.

Location Requirement

  • Remote, with the ability to effectively cover the East,North and North East region up to Newcastle.
  • Must be willing to work on a key customer site as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience selling technical, engineered, or industrial solutions.
  • Background in water, wastewater, or industrial process sectors beneficial.
  • Understanding of environmental regulations, ISO standards, and compliance drivers advantageous.
  • Degree in an engineering or scientific discipline preferred, but strong sales experience is the priority.
  • Full UK driving licence required.
