Our client is looking to recruit an Associate Director (Structural Engineering Team Lead) into their Highway Infrastructure team.

In this role you will lead their Local Government Structural Engineering team - driving technical excellence, managing project delivery, and mentoring a team of talented engineers.

As a senior member of the team, you will work collaboratively with our local government clients across the clients region - ensuring the team meets and exceeds client expectations and that client relationships are maintained and developed.

This is a varied role where you will get to lead on a wide variety of local projects focused mainly around highway structures (bridges, culverts, retaining walls etc.). You and your team will be involved in design, inspection, assessment, and feasibility studies; providing great variety for you and your team.

Responsibilities will be varied, but will include:

  • Lead and develop a team of structural engineers, maintaining our culture of collaboration and technical excellence.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to support professional development and chartership.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Lead on the design of bridges and other highways structures.
  • Lead on bridge strengthening, repairs, inspections and assessments.
  • Supervision and mentoring of colleagues, including our developing professionals.
  • Financial and project management of schemes

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

It is anticipated that you will be a Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer, with experience that will include the following:

  • Extensive experience in bridge and highway structures design, assessment, and project management, gained from working on both construction sites and the design office.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver complex infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of UK highways standards and contract documentation (e.g. DMRB, NEC4).
  • Knowledge in design, maintenance and supervision of structures related projects together with a track record of innovation in design and management of structures.
  • Experience of design in or assessment of steel, reinforced and prestressed concrete bridge structures.
  • Good communication and client relationship building skills are essential, plus a willingness to adapt to new challenges and to actively participate in the development of the wider team and strategy.
