Test Technician - NPI
Hourly Rate: £14.71

Role Overview


We are currently supporting a client within the manufacturing sector who is looking for NPI Test Technicians to support New Product Introduction activity. The role focuses on electronic testing and development of high‑voltage power supplies, ensuring products meet project schedules and performance standards.
You will receive daily task direction, with duties varying based on NPI requirements. This role suits a hands‑on technician who is comfortable fault‑finding to component level and contributing to development improvements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform electronic test and troubleshooting of high‑voltage power supplies
  • Fault‑find to component level and feedback improvement opportunities
  • Use specifications, drawings, schematics, and work instructions to test and debug units
  • Set up, calibrate, test, and troubleshoot circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies
  • Maintain test fixturing and carry out calibration, preventative, and corrective maintenance
  • Document development notes, corrective actions, test procedures, and results accurately
  • Contribute to process improvements (lead time, throughput, cost reduction)
  • Ensure compliance with quality processes, ESD, and departmental procedures
  • Support training of other technicians where required and liaise with other departments
  • Work under limited supervision and communicate clearly and professionally
  • Apply MRP and manufacturing processes within a production/NPI environment

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in electronic test and troubleshooting (or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of electronic circuitry and structured fault‑finding methods
  • Experience testing electronic assemblies, ideally power supplies
  • Knowledge and application of ESD practices
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and 5S
  • Ability to interpret schematics, drawings, and specifications
  • Comfortable using Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience working with SAP (test, production, or service modules)
  • Proven flexibility and ability to adapt in a fast‑changing NPI environment

Desirable (Not Essential)

  • Experience with high‑voltage products
  • Exposure to Materials / Logistics, ECO, or First Article processes
  • Experience designing or improving test fixturing
  • Previous NPI or development‑focused manufacturing environment

Qualifications

  • HNC in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Electrical / Electronic Engineering Degree (advantageous but not essential)
