We're working with a well‑established organisation that is expanding its internal IT function and is now looking for a Desktop Support Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis. This role offers the chance to work in a supportive, people‑focused environment where development, collaboration, and fresh thinking are actively encouraged.

Based in Hattersley, the position offers hybrid working and exposure to a varied and busy IT estate.

The Role

Responsible for providing dependable, high-quality IT support to users across the business. You'll be a key point of contact for technical issues, helping to keep systems, devices, and applications running efficiently while delivering an excellent customer experience.
This is a hands-on role covering user support, device management, troubleshooting, and documentation within a modern Microsoft environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver responsive and professional desktop and end-user IT support
  • Manage, prioritise, and resolve support tickets via the service management platform
  • Investigate and diagnose technical issues, resolving or escalating as required
  • Keep users informed with clear updates and see issues through to resolution
  • Guide users through technical problems in a clear and approachable manner
  • Install, configure, and support hardware, software, and business applications
  • Support meeting room AV technology, printers, and office network equipment
  • Maintain accurate system, asset, and support documentation
  • Assist with Joiner, Mover, Leaver (JML) processes
  • Build and maintain knowledge of internal systems, tools, and processes


Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience supporting desktop hardware and software environments
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 11, M365 applications, and network fundamentals
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, application packaging, and PowerShell
  • Exposure to supporting Line of Business (LOB) applications
  • Familiarity with AV solutions, print technologies, and office IT infrastructure
  • Understanding of IT asset management principles
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong customer-service mindset
