Rate: £550 - £594 per day (Umbrella)
IR35 Status: Inside IR35
Contract Length: 6 months
Location: Remote (with occasional office travel)
Clearance: DBS required as part of onboarding

The Role

We're seeking an experienced Azure Data Platform & Network Engineer to support the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of a secure, scalable Microsoft Fabric-based data platform.

This role combines deep Azure networking expertise with a strong data platform lens, ensuring secure connectivity, governance, and operational excellence across enterprise data workloads.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement Azure virtual network architectures, including:
    • Hub-and-spoke models
    • VNet peering and UDR routing strategies
  • Configure and manage secure connectivity solutions:
    • Private Endpoints and Private Link
    • DNS resolution
    • ExpressRoute / VPN integration
  • Administer and optimise Azure Firewall and Network Security Group (NSG) rules
  • Deliver network isolation patterns for AI and data services, including:
    • VNet injection
    • API Management (APIM) integration
    • Private networking for services
  • Operate Microsoft Fabric from a data platform perspective:
    • Workspace provisioning
    • Capacity assignment
    • Tenant configuration and governance
  • Implement and manage Fabric, ADLS Gen2, and downstream services connectivity, including:
    • Managed VNets
    • Private Link configurations
  • Build robust monitoring and observability frameworks:
    • Azure Monitor and Log Analytics
    • Pipeline monitoring dashboards
    • Alerting and telemetry setup
  • Apply GitOps and DevOps best practices:
    • Branching strategies
    • Environment promotion pipelines
    • Release gating for enterprise data platform (EDP) workloads

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in Azure networking design and implementation
  • Strong expertise in:
    • VNet architecture (hub-spoke, peering, routing)
    • Private endpoints, DNS, ExpressRoute/VPN
    • Azure Firewall and NSG management
  • Experience delivering secure, private data platforms in Azure
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric platform operations
  • Knowledge of ADLS Gen2 and secure data access patterns
  • Proficiency in Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and observability tooling
  • Experience with GitOps/DevOps methodologies in data environments
  • Familiarity with AI workload isolation patterns in Azure is highly desirable

  • Fully remote role with occasional travel to office as required
