We are seeking an experienced Senior Designer's Site Representative to support the delivery of major highway infrastructure works, including bridges and associated structures. This role is embedded within construction teams across multiple site offices, serving as the on-site technical authority for highways and structures design on a high-profile national infrastructure project.

You will be the bridge between the design office and the field, providing authoritative technical support to the Client and contractors. Your focus will be on resolving technical queries and coordinating multi-disciplinary design input to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant construction delivery.


Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Authority: Act as the senior on-site representative for highways, bridges, and associated enabling works infrastructure.

  • Query Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for TQs and RFIs regarding alignments, pavements, drainage, structures, and earthworks.

  • Design Coordination: Manage input from office-based design teams when site queries require further development, ensuring responses align with original design intent.

  • Site Liaison: Interface with site management to address buildability constraints, construction sequencing, and emerging site issues.

  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure all technical advice complies with applicable UK standards, Approvals in Principle (AiP), and safety requirements.

  • Change Management: Support the technical definition and justification of Change Events arising during the construction phase.

  • Audit & Reporting: Maintain robust records of decisions and assumptions to ensure full traceability and proactively escalate recurring risks or design clashes.

What We're Looking For

  • Qualifications: Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering.

  • Experience: Significant background in highways and/or bridge design, specifically with experience providing construction-phase support on major infrastructure projects.

  • Technical Authority: Proven ability to act as a design authority in a live construction environment.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of UK highway/structures standards and modern construction practices.
