Grey Hat Supervisor (Drainage)
We are seeking experienced Grey Hat Drainage Supervisors to support upcoming highways drainage works across two major schemes.
Works are programmed to commence from w/c 8 June 2026, with increasing gang numbers through late July 2026.
Role Overview
As a Grey Hat Supervisor (FLS / Foreman), you will be responsible for supervising a drainage gang delivering filter and carrier drainage works on large-scale infrastructure projects. You will lead from the front, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity are maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day supervision of drainage gangs on site
- Ensuring works are carried out safely, to programme and to specification
- Briefing operatives and operators, delivering task briefings and toolbox talks
- Coordinating plant, labour, and materials
- Maintaining site records and liaising with site management
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards
Gang Structure You Will Supervise
- 1 x Grey Hat Supervisor (your role)
- 1 x Experienced Pipelayer (Confined Spaces trained)
- 2 x Experienced Excavator Operators (20-30T tracked machines)
- 1 x General Operative
Scope of Works
- Majority of drainage works less than 2.0m depth
- Some carrier drainage up to 3.0m depth
- Highways / infrastructure environment
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Grey Hat Supervisor / Drainage Foreman
- Strong drainage background (highways or major civils preferred)
- SSSTS / SMSTS (preferred)
- Confident managing teams, plant and programme
- Valid CSCS (Supervisor / Gold card)
- First Aid (desirable)
- Locations: Ipswich - accommodation will be provided for individuals that do not live locally.
