Experienced Drainage Groundworker / Pipelayer (Confined Spaces)
We are looking to recruit experienced Drainage Groundworker / Pipelayers with Confined Spaces training to support upcoming highways drainage works on two major infrastructure schemes.
Works are programmed to commence from w/c 8 June 2026, with increasing labour requirements through late July 2026.
Role Overview
You will be working as a key member of a drainage gang delivering filter and carrier drainage on large-scale civil engineering projects. The role requires a strong background in pipelaying within a highways or infrastructure environment and confidence working in excavations of varying depths.
Typical Gang Structure
- 1 x Grey Hat Supervisor (FLS / Foreman)
- 1 x Experienced Pipelayer (Confined Spaces trained - your role)
- 2 x Excavator Operators (20-30T tracked machines)
- 1 x General Operative
Scope of Works
- Laying carrier and filter drains
- Majority of works less than 2.0m depth
- Some carrier drainage up to 3.0m depth
- Working alongside machine operators and supervising drainage runs
- Highways / infrastructure environment
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Drainage Pipelayer on civils or highways projects
- Confined Spaces trained (essential)
- Solid understanding of drainage specs, levels and tolerances
- Valid CSCS card
- Ability to work safely and efficiently as part of a gang
- Experience with deep drainage advantageous
