360 Excavator Operator (20-30T) - Drainage Works
We are recruiting experienced 360 Excavator Operators to support upcoming drainage works on two major infrastructure schemes.
Works are due to commence from w/c 8 June 2026, with additional gangs mobilising through late July 2026.
Role Overview
You will be working as part of an experienced drainage gang delivering carrier and filter drainage on large-scale highways projects. The role requires strong machine control, a good understanding of drainage works, and close coordination with pipelayers and supervisors.
Typical Gang Structure
- 1 x Grey Hat Supervisor (FLS / Foreman)
- 1 x Experienced Pipelayer (Confined Spaces trained)
- 2 x Excavator Operators (20-30T tracked machines - your role)
- 1 x General Operative
Scope of Works
- Excavation and backfill for drainage installations
- Majority of works less than 2.0m depth
- Some carrier drainage works up to 3.0m depth
- Working in live highways / infrastructure environments
- Close working alongside pipelayers to achieve levels and tolerances
Requirements
- Proven experience operating 20-30T tracked excavators
- Strong background in drainage or civils works
- Competent digging to tight tolerances around services
- Valid CPCS or NPORS card (with CSCS logo)
- Good awareness of health & safety in deep excavations
- Ability to work effectively as part of a drainage gang
- Locations: Based in Ipswich - accommodation will be provided for those not living locally
