Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer


Contract: Initial 6 months (Outside IR35)
Project: Gas Engine Power Generation

We're looking for an electrically biased E&I Engineer to support a gas engine power generation project, integrating generation technology into an existing high-voltage (HV) electrical system. You'll also support wider on-site E&I works, providing day-to-day engineering input across design, installation support and operational activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Produce and support detailed E&I design integrating power generation equipment into existing HV electrical networks
  • Provide engineering support for gas engine systems design and installation (interfaces, controls, instrumentation, protection)
  • Deliver/support Power Management Systems (PMS) design and installation/integration
  • Support the design of G99 and other grid-compliant systems, ensuring compliance is designed-in and documented
  • Assist with general site E&I project work: operational support, troubleshooting, design changes and improvement works

Required experience

  • Proven experience in detailed design integrating power generation technology into existing HV systems
  • Experience with gas engine systems (design and/or installation)
  • Experience with Power Management Systems (design/installation/integration)
  • Practical knowledge of G99 and grid compliance requirements
  • Broad E&I knowledge, with an electrical bias preferred

Desirable

  • Experience working in a live/operational industrial environment
  • Commissioning / implementation support alongside design delivery
