Job Purpose
To support the effective coordination of street works activities on the public highway, ensuring all works are planned, monitored, and delivered in compliance with relevant legislation (e.g., New Roads and Street Works Act 1991) and council policies. The role aims to minimise disruption to road users while maintaining safety and efficiency across the road network.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the coordination and scheduling of utility and highway works across the network.
- Maintain and update street works management systems (e.g., noticing systems such as Street Manager).
- Review permit applications and notices submitted by utility companies and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, permit conditions, and council standards.
- Liaise with internal departments, utility providers, contractors, and external stakeholders regarding planned works.
Key Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Good attention to detail and ability to manage data accurately
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
- Basic knowledge of highways, street works, or infrastructure environments
- Competent IT skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, database systems)
Working hours:
- 37-40 hours a week min
- Monday to Friday
- Weekly Pay
