Our client, a renowned player in the nuclear sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team. This contract position focuses on dry process plant and equipment based out of Warrington, with a hybrid working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce engineering design deliverables (specification, drawing, analysis, verification, or assessment of engineering) that satisfy legal and functional requirements to the agreed time, cost, and quality.
  • Deliver a safe, fit-for-purpose, fully integrated, and operable design solution that meets product requirements.
  • Ensure design deliverables provide a fit-for-purpose integrated solution, including validation and verification, and align with plant configuration.
  • Ensure the design solution is manufacturable, constructable, commissionable, operable, maintainable, and decommissionable.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in the use of Autodesk Inventor.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Vault Basis or Vault Pro (file management).
  • Knowledge of GPS ISO (BS 8888).
  • Providing support to the resolution of manufacturing, inspection, and test Technical Queries/production permits/concessions. Note: SME support for materials, welding NDT and design for manufacture is available.
  • Managing and directing designers in the delivery of mechanical plant and equipment drawings and documents.
  • Experience and working knowledge of plant layout, installation, and alignment for works test, integrated test, and site installation.
  • Writing and checking works test requirement documentation and Integrated works test documents for Plant, Equipment, and machinery. Interaction with CE&I engineers will be required to ensure complete multi-disciplinary interactions.
  • Capacity to support office-based working arrangement for up to 5 days per week based in Birchwood, Warrington (typically a blended arrangement, 2-3 office/WFH based on work demand and agreement).
  • Visits to supplier premises may be required to support manufacture/test and issue resolution (including occasional overseas travel).

Desirables:

  • Experience and working knowledge of safety cases
  • Awareness and experience or working with SL Engineering Standards and Specifications
  • Experience in checking manufacturing drawings
  • Retrieval of information from DM desktop and other record management systems
  • Experience in designing in a nuclear environment
  • Experience in Alpha glovebox design principles for containment
  • Experience in design and integration of machines in accordance with the SoMSR
  • Experience and working knowledge of CDM, SoMSR, PUWER & LOLER
