There are several categories of licensed engineer: A - unlicensed/technician, B1- airframe/powerplant, B2 avionics/electronic systems or C - supervisor/final sign off. A licensed aircraft engineer can specialise in rotorcraft or fixed wing and will need to have or acquire a type rating for each of the aircraft that they work on to satisfy EASA regulations.
