Job description

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated CAD Technician to join our team and play a key role in the development of our consultancy's CAD standards. The successful candidate will work closely with our engineering and design teams to establish and implement CAD protocols and best practices that align with industry standards and optimize project workflows.

Responsibilities:

1. CAD Standards Development: Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to define and document CAD standards tailored to the specific needs and requirements of our consultancy. This includes drafting guidelines for drawing conventions, layering standards, file naming conventions, and template development.

2. Training and Implementation: Conduct training sessions and workshops for internal staff to ensure understanding and adherence to established CAD standards. Provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure consistent application of standards across all projects.

3. Quality Assurance: Review CAD drawings and models to ensure compliance with established standards and guidelines. Identify areas for improvement and provide feedback to designers and engineers as needed.

4. Collaboration and Communication: Foster collaboration and communication among team members to promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Coordinate with project teams to address CAD-related challenges and provide technical support as needed.

5. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of CAD standards, procedures, and best practices. Generate regular reports on the implementation and effectiveness of CAD standards, highlighting successes and areas for improvement.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD and Civil 3D) and related tools.
• Strong understanding of CAD standards and best practices, with previous experience developing and implementing standards preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to quality assurance and continuous improvement.
• Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing CAD-related challenges.
• Relevant qualification in engineering, architecture, or a related field is desirable.
