Job description

You will be responsible for carrying out tasks independently, while also leading a small group of commercial staff. Your duties will include preparing and agreeing on variation accounts for both main contracts and sub-contracts, monitoring costs against targets, and tracking contract progress against accepted programs and work plans. You will also provide input into change control procedures for EOT, delays, and performance adjustment.
To excel in this role, you must have significant experience in Quantity Surveying and hold a Quantity Surveying degree or a similar qualification. Membership or enrollment in a relevant professional institution such as CICES or RICS is highly desirable. Successful experience as a Quantity Surveyor, demonstrating your ability to deliver positive commercial outcomes for projects, is essential. Additionally, you should have excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor junior team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and agree on variation accounts for main contracts and sub-contracts
  • Monitor costs against targets and track contract progress
  • Provide input into change control procedures for EOT, delays, and performance adjustment
  • Prepare and agree on interim valuations, final valuations, and final accounts
  • Prepare and issue certification and payment for sub-contractors
  • Provide contractual advice to management and ensure compliance with contract and legal administration obligations
  • Negotiate and resolve disputes
  • Identify potential commercial risks and evaluate options for their control and management

Job Requirements:

  • Significant experience in Quantity Surveying
  • Qualified with a Quantity Surveying degree or similar
  • Enrolled in, or seeking membership of, a relevant professional institution (CICES, RICS or similar)
  • Successful experience at Quantity Surveyor level, delivering positive commercial outcomes
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills
