Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a detail-driven and proactive Quality Coordinator to assist in the preparation, control and coordination of quality assurance documentation for engineering and manufacturing projects undertaken by the business.

Operating in a fast-paced, live engineering and manufacturing environment, the role acts as a key link between engineering, production, management and customers, ensuring quality requirements are clearly understood, implemented and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage project-specific Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for manufacturing and engineering projects.
  • Work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure ITP requirements are understood, implemented and adhered to in a live production environment.
  • Produce, manage and collate Lifetime Quality Records (LTQRs) throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring final documentation meets customer and company requirements.
  • Support hands-on quality assurance activities, including dimensional checks, inspections, sampling and verification activities.
  • Review supplier-provided documentation for accuracy, correctness and conformity to specifications.
  • Assist in the management and control of tools, equipment and monitoring/measuring devices used in manufacturing processes.
  • Support the recording, investigation and reporting of quality-related non-conformances.
  • Assist with internal audits and supplier audits as required.
  • Work with management to continuously improve quality processes, manufacturing activities and associated documentation, enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Assist with documentation preparation and submittals as part of tendering and quotation activities.
  • Support third-party audit activities, including ISO 9001 and customer audits.
  • Undertake any other duties as reasonably required to support the needs of the business.

Location & Travel Requirements

This is a site-based role located in Southampton.
Travel to Plymouth will be required as and when necessary, including:

    • Day trips for client meetings, inspections or project-related activities
    • Occasional overnight stays, depending on operational or scheduling needs
  • Travel will be planned in coordination with project and management teams.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Relevant quality assurance experience, preferably within an engineering, fabrication or metalwork environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience writing and maintaining Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Experience producing and collating Lifetime Quality Records (LTQRs).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Working Pattern

  • Full-time, on-site role.
  • Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
  • Start and finish times can be flexible, provided 40 hours are completed
