Role Overview

We are supporting a large UK organisation undergoing a significant data privacy uplift and GDPR compliance programme, alongside backfilling capacity within a small internal privacy team.

The organisation is seeking experienced, hands-on Data Privacy Managers who can hit the ground running and contribute from day one. This is a delivery‑focused contract role, suited to contractors who are comfortable operating in fast‑paced environments with minimal onboarding.

This role is not suited to junior profiles or those looking for developmental opportunities - practical, operational data privacy experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities

The Data Privacy Manager will be responsible for supporting the delivery of core data privacy and GDPR activities, including but not limited to:

  • Supporting a GDPR and data privacy uplift and remediation programme
  • Leading and contributing to Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
  • Managing and supporting Subject Access Requests (SARs / DSARs)
  • Maintaining and updating Records of Processing Activities (RoPA)
  • Supporting privacy incident and data breach management where required
  • Providing practical privacy advice to operational and business stakeholders
  • Working closely with legal, IT, information security, and operational teams
  • Supporting the implementation and embedding of privacy-by-design principles
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of privacy policies and procedures
  • Ensuring ongoing compliance with UK GDPR and ICO guidance

Skills & Experience Required

Essential Experience:

  • Proven, hands-on experience in a Data Privacy or Data Protection role
  • Strong working knowledge of UK GDPR and practical compliance application
  • Experience supporting GDPR remediation, uplift, or compliance programmes
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in contract or interim roles
  • Confident, business-facing communicator able to work with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or onboarding

Highly Desirable:

  • IAPP qualification (CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT or equivalent)
  • Experience in regulated, healthcare, retail, or large complex organisations
  • Exposure to privacy tooling and data mapping solutions (e.g. OneTrust)

What a Strong Candidate Looks Like

  • Practical and delivery-focused, not purely theoretical or policy-driven
  • Positive, proactive attitude with a "can-do" approach
  • Comfortable operating at pace and managing competing priorities
  • Used to embedding quickly within new organisations
