Our client, a global leader in motion and control technologies, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a materials focus to support their aerospace business. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, developing and supporting high‑reliability products for demanding flight environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide materials engineering support for aerospace components and assemblies
- Select metallic materials based on performance, manufacturability, cost, and regulatory requirements
- Develop and optimise metal joining solutions (e.g. welding, brazing, soldering, mechanical fastening)
- Support root cause analysis, failure investigations, and corrective actions
- Create and maintain technical documentation, specifications, and test plans
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to ensure robust, producible designs
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials/Metallurgical Engineering, or related field
- Experience in engineering, ideally in aerospace or other highly regulated industry
- Broad knowledge of metal joining techniques, metallurgy, and material selection for structural and high‑temperature applications
- Ability as an excellent, methodical problem solver, using data-driven approaches and structured root cause tools
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams
- Knowledge of the selection and performance of materials for use in extreme high and low temperatures (advantageous)
