Our client, a prominent entity in the Highways sector, is currently seeking a dedicated Highways Engineer to join their Planned Maintenance Team within the Highway Operations service area on a full-time, contract basis. The team is part of a larger department that manages the Council's highway infrastructure, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering a range of highway projects from inception to completion
- Conducting inspections and surveys
- Carrying out feasibility and options studies
- Overseeing project management and financial control
- Providing design, site supervision, and contract management
- Managing multiple complex projects or work programmes simultaneously
- Ensuring effective budgetary control of individual schemes
Job Requirements:
- Experience in highways engineering
- Proven knowledge and experience in delivering schemes in an urban environment
- HNC/BSc/BEng in civil engineering or other relevant and equivalent qualification
- Understanding of the political context and environment of a local authority
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities
