Job Title: Piping Erection Supervisor - Hinkley Point C (HPC)
Sector: Nuclear New Build / Industrial Piping & Power
Location: Bridgwater / HPC Site Based
The Opportunity: We are looking for a specialist Piping Erection Supervisor to oversee the installation of critical piping systems at Hinkley Point C. This is a high-profile role within the construction phase of the project, focusing on ensuring all piping networks-from high-pressure systems to standard service lines-are installed, tested, and documented to nuclear-grade standards.
The Role: Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of piping subcontractors. You will bridge the gap between technical engineering designs and physical site execution, ensuring that "Quality First" and "Zero Deviation" principles are maintained across all piping packages.
Key Responsibilities:
Subcontractor Supervision: Directly manage piping erection personnel, clarifying technical documentation (isometrics, P&IDs, and specifications) to ensure precise installation.
Erection Strategy: Execute the project's piping strategy, identifying the necessary materials, specialized tooling, and heavy lifting equipment required to meet the build schedule.
Test & Conformity: Lead the execution of mandatory inspections and conformity tests (including ITPL and LAD). You will be a key participant in CTO and TOP walkdowns, ensuring systems are ready for commissioning handover.
Punch List Management: Identify, record, and clear outstanding works (punch items) during inspections to ensure no delays to the overall project milestones.
SWCF & As-Builts: Manage the creation and verification of Site Work Completion Files (SWCF) and quality records. You will oversee the production of as-built documentation to reflect final site status accurately.
Health & Safety (EHS): Enforce strict safety protocols, including LOTO (Lock-Out/Tag-Out), working at height, and mechanical safety. You will deliver daily toolbox talks and monitor risk mitigation on-site.
Technical Reporting: Provide regular progress reports, forecasting, and Return of Experience (REX) to project management, ensuring any NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) or FSIs are closed out promptly.
What We're Looking For:
Technical Background: A Diploma or Certificate in a Mechanical or Piping discipline.
Specific Experience: Proven track record in large-scale piping erection, ideally within a Power Plant, Nuclear, or Oil & Gas environment.
HPC Ready: Experience working within the rigorous regulatory framework of a nuclear new build is highly desirable.
Management Skills: Strong experience in managing subcontractors and multicultural site teams.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written English; ability to interpret and explain complex engineering drawings to field teams.
Desired Qualifications:
Formal training in power plant construction engineering.
Knowledge of MTA or similar material tracking software for piping inventory.
