Our client, a leader in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a highly skilled Human Factors Engineer for a contract role. This position plays a critical role in ensuring user capability is fully considered in the development of advanced weapon systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Human Factors Integration throughout the development lifecycle, providing progressive assurance to the customer as per Def Stan 00-251.
- Analyse and assess the role of the operator within the weapon system, considering mission planning and control.
- Define and maintain Human-Computer Interface (HCI) Design and Specification artefacts.
- Conduct user engagement activities to inform design as part of a Human-Centred Design approach.
- Support and collaborate with wider systems teams, including provision of briefings where required.
- Coordinate with teams to provide inputs for demonstrator requirements and organise user engagement events.
Job Requirements:
- Membership in the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF).
- Experience applying Human Factors in a Defence context, including understanding of Defence Standards (e.g., 00-251).
- Experience in Human-Computer Interface Design, specification, and prototyping using tools such as AxureRP.
- Proficient in core HF activities including task analysis, requirements development, and user engagement within a Human-Centred Design approach.
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary engineering teams, particularly with systems and software engineering.
- Understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML notation.
- Familiarity with the Naval domain and knowledge of mission planning and control systems is desirable.
