Location: Hertfordshire

An exciting opportunity is available for a Geotechnical / Geo-Environmental Engineer to join a well-established ground investigation and consultancy business.

We're looking for someone with a BEng/MEng/BSc/MSc (or equivalent) in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Applied Geology, or Civil Engineering (with strong geotechnical content). Ideally you'll have 1-5 years' relevant experience, however applicants with less than a year's experience who have completed relevant placements are also encouraged to apply.

About the role

You'll join a busy, supportive team, delivering a mix of site-based and office-based work, including:

  • Supervising ground investigations on site
  • Producing interpretive reports and undertaking geotechnical analysis
  • Scoping and pricing new work
  • Liaising directly with clients and project stakeholders

The work spans ground investigation, geotechnical design, and contaminated land assessment, with a strong focus on high-quality interpretive reporting. You'll be given early responsibility for your own projects, supported by experienced engineers. Experience in geotechnical assessment and/or numerical modelling is beneficial, but training can be provided.

Development and training

You'll have access to a structured graduate training and mentoring programme, including technical seminars and support towards Chartership, alongside regular CPD sessions and external industry events.

What we're looking for

We're keen to speak with engineers who bring:

  • Curiosity, motivation, and a proactive approach to learning
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • A collaborative mindset and a strong focus on safety and quality

We welcome applicants who thrive in a supportive, team-focused environment and align with values such as safety, integrity, kindness, innovation, sustainability, and community.

What's on offer

  • Competitive salary
  • Funded professional memberships
  • Workplace pension scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme (wellbeing/mental health support)
  • Free gym/yoga/exercise membership
  • Regular social events
  • Relaxed, friendly working environment

Hybrid working

Flexible working is supported, including working from home part of the week.

Wellbeing & community

The business actively supports wellbeing through initiatives such as gym memberships, fitness classes, cycle-to-work, and office wellbeing benefits. There's also a focus on giving back through local community support, volunteering, and annual charitable donations.
