About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and experienced Senior Quality Engineer to join our growing team in Barrow-in-Furness, supporting key projects across the nuclear and defence sectors on a long term contract.
This is a pivotal role where you'll be responsible for maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (QMS) within a project environment, while working closely with Workstream Quality Leads and Construction Teams to ensure the highest standards of compliance and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and maintain the project Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001:2015
- Work closely with Construction Teams to ensure production and compliance of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
- Compile Lifetime Quality Records concurrently with project delivery
- Provide guidance and support to suppliers on client quality requirements
- Manage Supply Chain Quality, including:
- Pre-qualification assessments
- Supplier audits and performance monitoring
- Vendor evaluations and approvals
- Lead and contribute to internal, supplier, and third-party audits
- Manage Non-Conformances, Defects, and Project Improvement Notices, ensuring effective resolution
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across projects
- Liaise with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 5years' experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Engineering within:
- Construction / M&E / Welding / Fabrication environments
- Experience working in Nuclear and/or Defence sectors
- ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor (Lead Auditor preferred)
- Proven experience conducting:
- Internal audits
- Supplier audits
- External/third-party audits
- Strong experience developing:
- Quality Management Plans (QMPs)
- Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
- Quality procedures and work instructions

£48/hour (umbrella) + expenses package
4 day week Mon-Thursday
