The Opportunity


We are looking for an experienced Researcher to join a dynamic Research & Innovation team working on the DWP Garage initiative for the UK Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to meaningful public sector innovation, shaping how services are designed and delivered to millions of UK citizens.


The Role


As a Researcher, you will lead and deliver high-quality research across a range of projects, applying both primary and secondary research techniques to generate actionable insights.
You will play a key role in influencing strategy, improving user experiences, and supporting data-driven decision-making across multidisciplinary teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, structure, and deliver robust research programmes aligned to project and stakeholder needs
  • Apply advanced UX research methodologies and tools to uncover user behaviours, needs, and pain points
  • Analyse complex qualitative and quantitative data to produce actionable insights
  • Communicate research findings clearly to stakeholders, influencing product and service direction
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support delivery and innovation
  • Act as a subject matter expert in research and insight, guiding best practices
  • Support team performance by mentoring colleagues and fostering a collaborative environment
  • Contribute to refining and improving research methodologies and processes
  • Take ownership of decisions within your team and contribute to wider project outcomes

Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in User Experience (UX) Research (advanced level required)
  • Expertise in a range of research tools and techniques (qualitative and quantitative)
  • Proven ability to design and execute end-to-end research strategies
  • Excellent data analysis and storytelling skills
  • Experience working with stakeholders and communicating insights effectively
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work across multiple teams
  • Experience within public sector or large-scale organisations is advantageous
