The Solution Architect will act as the technical authority for the programme, owning the end‑to‑end solution architecture across all five delivery stages. This includes full accountability for the APIM contract, architectural governance, and ensuring that all solution components integrate seamlessly within the wider enterprise ecosystem.
Core Responsibilities
End‑to‑End Architecture Ownership Lead the solution architecture from initial discovery through to deployment and operational handover. Ensure the solution remains aligned with enterprise standards, security principles, and long‑term scalability requirements.
API Architecture & APIM Contract Leadership Own the API Management (APIM) contract, including:
API design and versioning
Security models (OAuth, managed identities, policies)
Integration patterns and service boundaries
Governance of API lifecycle and documentation
Azure AI Solution Design Architect and guide the implementation of Azure AI capabilities, including:
Azure AI Search - semantic search, vector search, indexing strategies
Document Intelligence - OCR, form extraction, document processing pipelines
Content Understanding - classification, summarisation, enrichment models
Azure AI Foundry - model orchestration, evaluation, prompt engineering, governance
Solution Design Authority Provide architectural direction to engineering teams, ensuring that design decisions are technically sound, cost‑efficient, and aligned with the target architecture.
Technical Leadership & Mentoring Support engineering teams with architectural guidance, design patterns, and best practices. Act as the escalation point for complex technical decisions.
Stakeholder Collaboration Work closely with product owners, business stakeholders, data teams, and delivery leads to translate requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
Architecture Governance & Quality Assurance Produce and maintain architectural artefacts, including high‑level designs, sequence diagrams, integration maps, and security models. Conduct design reviews and provide assurance throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Experience & Skills Required
10+ years in solution or enterprise architecture roles, ideally within large‑scale, distributed, or cloud‑native environments.
3+ years hands‑on experience with the Azure AI stack, delivering real‑world AI‑enabled solutions.
Strong experience designing and governing API‑centric architectures, including APIM, microservices, and integration patterns.
Deep understanding of cloud security, identity, networking, and data governance.
Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and influence senior stakeholders.
Strong documentation, communication, and architectural storytelling skills.
