Matchtech are supporting a key client with requisition of an experienced Senior Transmission Engineer to join their team in a choice of multiple California locations, including Brea, San Diego, Walnut Creek, and Los Angeles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design of complex transmission line projects from conceptual phase through design completion
- Provide technical oversight, expertise, and mentorship for the design staff
- Prepare specifications, data sheets, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations for transmission equipment
- Conduct economic conductor selection studies, lightning performance, and grounding calculations/studies
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards such as NESC and California General Order 95
- Review vendor drawings and interface with suppliers, clients, and other engineering disciplines
- Contribute to the development of project schedules, scope, budget, staffing, and construction planning
- Perform quality reviews of production drawings and project-related data
- Oversee construction administration including field inspections, calculations, and testing
- Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications
- Build and maintain client relationships, while identifying new business opportunities
- Lead field inspections and provide resolutions for design-related installation issues
- Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes and company safety policies
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program and 7 years of transmission engineering experience required. EPC project experience preferred.
- Proven experience in EPC project execution is preferred
- Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques, codes, and computer skills (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM, Civil 3D, PLS-CADD)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in leading design projects and delegating tasks to team members
- Ability to perform quality reviews and resolve issues in a collaborative team environment
- Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred
- Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
