We are currently seeking an experienced and highly competent NG Competent Person (CP) to support works across mechanical and electrical disciplines. This is a key role requiring strong technical capability, safety leadership, and proven experience working within National Grid environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake duties as a National Grid Competent Person (CP) for both Mechanical and Electrical works
- Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with National Grid safety rules and procedures
- Act as the focal point for site safety, including the implementation and control of safe systems of work
- Coordinate and supervise site activities, ensuring compliance with permits, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS)
- Liaise with project teams, clients, and operational stakeholders
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance on all tasks
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a NG Competent Person (CP) (Mechanical and Electrical)
- Valid BESC (Basic Electrical Safety Competence) certification
- Valid UKPN Substation Entry competency
- Strong understanding of high voltage (HV) environments and associated risks
- Experience operating within National Grid or similar utility frameworks
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Commitment to health & safety excellence
Desirable
- Additional National Grid authorisations or tickets
- Previous experience in substations, infrastructure, or energy projects
- SMSTS / SSSTS qualification
