Duration: 6 Months

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join a leading aerospace engineering organisation on an initial 6-month PAYE contract. This role will focus on the design and detailing of aerospace fuel system products, ensuring designs meet performance, manufacturability and assembly requirements while complying with aerospace and industry standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong CAD experience and a background in complex mechanical or aerospace product design to work within a global engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed engineering designs using CAD platforms including Creo and MicroStation.
  • Create and modify 3D models and engineering drawings for new and existing products.
  • Review and perform quality checks on engineering drawings produced by both local and global teams.
  • Conduct Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) assessments.
  • Provide manufacturability input during concept development and support prototype builds to validate designs.
  • Lead sustaining engineering activities and development projects independently.
  • Develop innovative product concepts for aerospace applications.
  • Work closely with global cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Ensure all drawings and technical documentation comply with aerospace standards and engineering best practice.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and DMAIC principles.
  • Utilise the Enovia PLM system for document control and workflow management.
  • Support the development and maintenance of engineering standards, processes and procedures.
  • Deliver engineering documentation to agreed quality, cost and time requirements.

Required Experience

  • Proven experience in mechanical design engineering within aerospace, defence or a similarly regulated industry.
  • Strong proficiency in Creo, MicroStation and ideally CATIA.
  • Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, dimensioning standards, tolerance analysis and tolerance stack-up calculations.
  • Good understanding of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) principles.
