Job description

The Role:

The Senior Support Engineer (LSA & Supply Support) will undertake tasks in support of the production of LSA deliverable's. You will need to have a good understanding of the LSA Strategy and will be able to apply it to develop the LSA outputs and be able to influence the equipment or system design. You will also be responsible for the day-to-day co-ordination and input of appropriate information into LSA tools and business processes.

You will need to have a basic understanding of the relevant Ministry of Defence (MoD) industry as well as the corporate standards that cover LSA activities. You will be required to develop an awareness of other Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) disciplines and engineering processes in order to understand how RCM ouputs influence the design and interrelate with ILS and Safety activities.

Specific Core Duties:

The following activities are typical of work that may be carried out by the LSA senior Engineer with the appropriate level of guidance and support, in full or part dependent on the role:

  • Develop or provide input to LSA reports, outputs and recommendations that influence equipment availability
  • Maintain ILS and LSA records to facilitate department activities
  • Evaluate the impact of engineering change on the LSA outputs
  • Provide appropriate LSA knowledge and input for Engineering Design Reviews

Experience:

  • Good level of domain knowledge over the full range of LSA disciplines and how they relate to ILS and Safety. Experience of delivering LSA in appropriate phases of the programme lifecycle and supporting equipment for the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD)
  • Knowledge of MoD ILS processes (Def-Stan 00-600)
  • Knowledge of the models and tools required to deliver the LSA outputs
  • Knowledge of the engineering lifecycle and how support activities align to it, with some experience of operating in the phase relevant to the role
  • Have a strong awareness of Product Safety and SHE
  • Knowledge or at least recognition of relevant engineering standards, including safety and environmental regulations
  • Understand the need, and have awareness of Product Safety and SHE
