My Client is recruiting for a Senior Process Engineer in the Water Sector

Your role as a process engineer will be to work collaboratively within a design and build team, and be responsible for delivering the process design of multiple wastewater projects. This role will provide you with the opportunity to develop your technical and management skills, grow your professional network, and provide you with excellent long-term potential to advance your career.

The scope of the wastewater non-infrastructure programme covers a broad range of unit processes including preliminary, primary and secondary treatment upgrades, chemical coagulation and tertiary treatment for phosphorus reduction, sludge digestion, dewatering and biogas handling.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with internal and client project teams and contribute to creating a positive and engaging environment.
  • Supervise the work of more junior process engineers, providing technical and professional guidance to aid their development.
  • Contribute to driving an excellence and 'right first time' culture in the team, including identifying and helping to address any competency gaps in the process design.
  • Deliver process engineering design, including process calculations, mass balance, process flow diagrams and input to control philosophies.
  • Manage design quality control processes and checking and reviewing the work of others.
  • Contribute to the identification and development of affordable and low carbon solutions, including risk management.
  • Proactively engage with the supply chain and produce technical specifications for procuring proprietary process equipment.
  • Support engagement with suppliers and subcontractors and undertake technical reviews of their design/equipment.
  • Understand Clients standards and support the Design Lead and team to ensure that the process design outputs comply with the required standards and quality requirements, to achieve client acceptance.
  • Support the Project Leader and Design Lead in technical meetings with Client to achieve acceptances.
  • Support the development and execution of the commissioning plan, including testing and acceptance and provide input to commissioning as required.
  • Manage safety, wellbeing, environment and sustainability within your designs.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Chemical Engineering or relevant Process Engineering related degree, preferably chartered.
  • Broad experience and understanding of wastewater unit processes and treatment plant, with experience of delivering process design for wastewater projects.
  • Experience of HAZOP studies as chair or team member would be advantageous
  • Experience of simulation and design software packages, such as BioWin would be advantageous.
  • Able to collaborate and work effectively within a multidiscipline and diverse team.
  • Understanding of designer's responsibilities under CDM
  • Understanding of program, budget and quality requirements.
  • An understanding of procurement and construction.
  • Proactive approach and growth mindset, with an ability to adapt to changing scenarios.
  • Able to manage competing tensions for the benefit of developing better outcomes.
  • Experience of mentoring junior process engineers.
