Job description

We have a vacancy for 3 x Senior Systems Engineers to join our clients technical team in Portsmouth. Joining a large team within the Maritime Services sector, you will be applying the principles of systems engineering to the entire engineering development lifecycle from requirement definition to system integration and customer acceptance into system support and disposal.

Main responsibilities will include:

• Apply systems engineering principles of ISO 15288 to the design and build of systems through the entire engineering lifecycle
• Discern and decompose user, legislative and safety requirements to system and sub-system level requirements and manage these in an approved toolset such as IBM DOORS Next
• Provide, review and adhere to specifications in accordance with stakeholder requirements
• Undertake system design and modelling to subsystem level including associated external and internal interfaces and manage such models in an approved toolset such as Cameo Systems Modeller
• Define and articulate acceptance strategies in order to verify requirement compliance at each appropriate level of system design, supporting production of customer acceptance evidence
• Undertake system integration, test planning and execution
• Undertake technical reviews, verification and approval of engineering technical documentation and design in accordance with business, legislative and customer requirements

What we are looking for in you:

• Understands engineering principles and approaches underpinning design and development activities and be capable of systems thinking, applying holistic approaches to complex problems
• Demonstrates understanding, knowledge and experience of systems engineering including knowledge of appropriate systems engineering standards (e.g. ISO 15288) and an appreciation of software design approaches
• Achieved or be in the final stages of achieving Chartered Engineer status and/or working towards relevant professional accreditation e.g. INCOSE UK ASEP or CSEP certification
• Experience of requirements management and configuration management
• Experience of some aspects of an engineering lifecycle and good knowledge of lifecycle models (e.g. Waterfall, Agile) and associated tools (e.g. JIRA)
• Experience of working with large scale complex system designs
• Experience of presenting both technical and non-technical information in a formal setting

The role is heavily focused on software so any experience in writing software would be advantageous or working closely with software engineers as they will implement the designs created so need a base understanding of how a software engineers work.

• Hybrid working: Needs to be commutable to site when required (certain riggs projects are classed as secret and will be required to work from site when working on those)
• Security requirements: SC + ITAR

This role will require the person to hold full Security Clearance (SC) prior to working onsite. You will need to obtain a Criminal Record Check and you must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC. In addition, this role involves direct access to ITAR Material, therefore we can only consider UK Nationals for this position. The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs).
