My Client is a recruiting for Electrical and Senior Electrical Engineers in the Water Sector

The office in Leeds (other office locations may be considered) will be the principal place of work, however we are committed to providing a flexible and agile working environment that supports both our employees and the needs of the business.

The Client have an exciting opportunity for a talented electrical design engineer to join their team delivering water and wastewater projects across a number of Water Authorities frameworks.

We are looking for a talented electrical design engineer to play a pivotal role within our water and wastewater treatment design team. Projects are developed from feasibility through to detailed design and construction, allowing project teams to see the full lifecycle. This enables a strong culture of continuous improvement, to provide on-going efficiencies to the client, and promote best-practice across the industry. You will undertake electrical and ICA (EICA) design across all design stages of water and wastewater schemes in both infrastructure and non-infrastructure as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Your typical duties and responsibilities will include the preparation of and / or supervision of the following design outputs;

  • Work collaboratively with members of the team and client project teams and contribute to creating a positive and engaging environment.
  • Supervise the work of more junior electrical engineers, providing technical and professional guidance to aid their development. Manage design quality control processes, and checking and reviewing the work of others.
  • Contribute to driving an excellence and 'right first time' culture in the team, including identifying and helping to address any competency gaps in the electrical design.
  • Preparation and/or supervision of the development of drawings for
    • Preparation of drawings for plant general arrangements,
    • Power single line diagrams,
    • Cable block diagrams,
    • P&IDs,
    • Control system architecture drawings
    • Instrument Schedules
    • Load Schedules
    • I/O schedules
    • Control Philosophy
    • Technical specifications
    • Attendance at FAT and SAT's
  • Managing the interfaces and integration of the EICA design with that of other disciplines and production of documentation, including user requirement specifications / control philosophies, tender documentation, schedules and design reports.
  • Undertaking asset condition surveys and attending factory and site acceptance tests to provide technical advice and guidance.
  • Support our commercial and procurement colleagues to engage with suppliers and subcontractors and undertake technical reviews of their design/equipment.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Water or wastewater non-infrastructure and infrastructure design experience.
  • Experience of successfully delivering high quality outputs in accordance with design, quality and safety standards.
  • You will be preferably chartered with the IET or showing demonstrable progress towards chartership with a good technical knowledge of electrical and ICA (EICA) engineering, being able to advise other disciplines regarding aspects of their design as it impacts EICA engineering issues.
  • Good technical knowledge of electrical and ICA (EICA) engineering
  • Strong communication skills to interact with other engineering disciplines and clients
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in LV (HV would be an advantage) distribution systems, motor control centres / control panels, electrical installation practices, SCADA and telemetry systems
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of current instrumentation and communication protocols
  • Awareness of DSEAR and ATEX
  • Ability to write and deliver clear and concise EICA design deliverables across all design stages of a project Knowledge of typical water and wastewater treatment works would be beneficial
  • A team player capable of working with others to consistently deliver
