Electrical Fitter/Marine Electrician - BAE Systems - 18-24 Month Contract - Portsmouth Naval Base, Hampshire - £17.14-£30.94ph PAYE or £22.28-£37.37ph UMB (Inside IR35)
The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). Please note, the rate paid by the Umbrella will be less, as will a Limited Deemed rate or Agency PAYE rate. Please get in touch to discuss the rates via these different payment vehicles.
Clearance Requirements & Eligibility
This role will require the person to hold full Security Clearance (SC) prior to working onsite. You will need to obtain a Criminal Record Check. You must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC and you must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship and have lived and worked in the UK for a minimum 5 year period. Job Description
- Ensure safe systems of work are carried out at all times.
- Read/lnterpret Electrical Drawings, MDS and Guidance information.
- Undertake new system fits across all classes of RN vessels.
- Install various types of Electrical Equipment associated with an RN vessel such as motors, starters, control panels, Radar and associated equipment, weapons systems, internal and external comms.
- Fault diagnosis and defect rectification.
- Carry out Electrical Testing.
- Execute various crimping techniques. ERMA, Gold pin.
- Soldering
- Terminate multiple types of Cable.
- Install Cable Support Systems. Cable Tray/Basket/Conduit/Hangers Install/Reeve cables
- Pack various types of glands / transits. Roxtec, RISE, Brattberg.
- Terminate multi pin plugs such as 608 and Amphinol.
- Remove and install basic mechanical and constructive items as required
General information
Based in HM Naval base Portsmouth in support of Royal Navy, RFA and commercial vessels employed as an industrial electrical fitter. Personnel must have a deep understanding of electrical work and be able to carry out the various techniques used in ship repair and support industry. Suitable candidates will have a good understanding of safe systems of work including electrical work, confined spaces, working at height and RN specific safety operations.
In addition a basic knowledge of mechanical systems and associated equipment is required
Candidates must be flexible to undertake tasks across any trade discipline as required. Must be prepared to work in a team to provide a high quality service to meet customer expectations.

Local = Live within 39miles of the Portsmouth Naval Base
Non Local = Live 39 miles outside of the Portsmouth Naval Base
Local PAYE - Standard Shift - £17.14 - Early Shift - £19.71 Back Shift - £21.43 - WSO - £24.75 - Sunday - £30.94
Local UMB - Standard Shift - £22.28 - Early shift - £25.55- Back Shift - £27.74 - WSO - £27.96 - Sunday £34.83
NON Local PAYE - Standard Shift- £23.59 - Early Shift £26.16 - Back Shift £27.88 - WSO £24.75 - Sunday £30.94
