What will you do?

As a Project Engineering Lead you will form part of the senior leadership team of an Integrated Project Team. Your responsibilities will generally be:

Management

  • Maintain a clear understanding of your team's forward load
  • Ensure work-packages are appropriately resourced and future demand is clearly communicated
  • Identify and manage technical and project risks across the group
  • Develop and maintain critical engineering plans and processes
  • Understand changing business priorities and regularly review/prioritise your team's work
  • Ensure work remains on track through formal and informal reviews
  • Manage external supplier contracts and relationships
  • Own and enact change initiatives to improve efficiency within the team

Technical Leadership

  • Develop project plans, estimates and bids, calling on support from the Chief System Engineer/Specialist/Project Engineering Manager where needed
  • Build and nurture relationships between your group and internal stakeholders
  • Ensure all technical output is appropriately reviewed in line with company procedures
  • Regularly review safety processes and procedures to ensure they comply with company and statutory regulations (where applicable)
  • Build and call upon a network of technical and engineering specialists to support and scrutinise engineering output
  • Interpret technical information quickly and at an appropriate level to inform design and development decisions

People

  • Support the development and progression of the team's engineers by communicating learning and development needs
  • Lead performance management across the team
  • Instil a productive and supportive working environment that motivates and inspires our engineers

What are we looking for?

Ideally Minimum level of experience of the following skills:

  • Track record of managing technical teams
  • Experience in managing a diverse set of activities which have numerous interactions and dependencies
  • Ability to remain focussed under pressure or with multiple competing priorities
  • Experience of working in a high-paced technical or engineering environment
  • We would be particularly interested in hearing from you if you have experience in:
  • Delivering embedded hardware within complex systems
  • Early stage system design
  • Trial planning and execution

This role will require strong, demonstrable skills in:
